Unlike many other events, the Dixie Hoedown is not held at a hotel. Instead we’re at an actual Dance Hall. It’s one of the reasons we can offer a weekend pass for 1/3 the price of other events.
Note: Flight prices have been very reasonable , so lock in your flights now — here are more details on airports
We suggest the following hotels as an option for you, based on their proximity to dance venue as well as other points of interest in town.
We strongly suggest one of these Galleria area hotels, which is only a few miles further from the dance venue but has plenty of walkable restaurants, and shopping. Please see our Place to Eat info page for how you might consider your meals, before you lock in to a hotel. In order of preference:
- Residence Inn by Marriott Houston by The Galleria, ($92) a 3-star hotel at 2500 McCue Rd, Houston, TX 77056, phone (713) 840-9757
- Aloft Houston Hotel by the Galleria, ($97) a 3-star hotel at 5415 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77056, phone (713) 622-7010
- Extended Stay America Hotel Houston – Galleria/Uptown, ($69) a 2-star hotel at 2300 W Loop S, Houston, TX 77027 (713) 960-9660
They are all reasonably close to each other that you can meet your buddies staying at another hotel walk to your buddies staying at another Galleria hotel. These are not locked in Event rates, but rather prices available during our Event weekend when we looked up the rates online as of late January. Book now, please.
If price is absolutely important for you:
Priceline to get a rate like ~$55/nite (for those who like to lock everything down): Priceline only has one 3.5-star hotel in the Brookhollow area of Houston, which is a Sheraton; so whenever you priceline for those specifics the only hotel you’ll get is the Sheraton. Brookhollow is very close to the dance venue, about 2 miles, and is safe but there isn’t much there to walk to in terms of restaurants (see our Places to Eat info). The normal price is $125/night, but if you priceline this area specifically for 3.5-stars one of attendees already got a $55/nite rate. Of course, the downside is that then you’re locked into the Sheraton. To be honest, I’d steer you towards something in the Galleria area as above, just so you’re near other attendees.
Of course, you are free to stay anywhere. There are a few cheesier, cheaper places closer to the dance venue but rates in Houston are already far below prices in other cities. Texas got plenty of land, y’all!
If Price is No Object:
Then you will easily find a luxurious suite and still have enough left over to consider making a donation , to help dancers on a budget who’d like to attend Dixie Hoedown! 🙂
What to Pack in your Suitcase
Late March in Texas means Spring is in full swing. Expect the evenings to be in the 60s and the days to be in the 70s. March thru May is the time to visit Houston, before the summer humidity from the Gulf kicks in.
